Product Description

India boasts of being the second largest producer of Tasar in the world and Birbhum, Bankura and Purulia in West Bengal (along the north bank of the Ganges) produce approximately 40% of it. The golden brown silk is created by the silkworm Antheraeamylitta that feeds on the leaves of Asan and Arjun in the wild. Rough to touch Tasar is often used for furnishing and interiors. The same fabric when softened lends an aristocratic air to apparels. You will find both embroidered and printed Tasar sarees at Resham Shilpi.
